[edit] Definition
A slow posting PC is one who posts significantly less than the majority of PC's. Perhaps there is something particular that happened in real life that kept the player away, or limits the posting rate to once a week or even less.
There is the distinct possibility that a slow posting player will not be able to participate in big events or influence the game on a meta game level. They will always be beaten to the punch by a faster moving PC. It's just math, that if you manage to do say 400 posts in a season, your character shall not get as much done as someone who posts 1000. Does this mean that the player must be excluded from the game and can never gain anything? All is not lost.
[edit] Make your Threads Count
Avoid large threads where your character will have to wait a long time to get something done (as well as holding up everybody else). Instead make every thread count. Leave larger time in between threads. Use Summary RP to larger effect, detailing what you did in that 'lost time'. Focus on a single plotline. Do larger posts. In slow moving threads moderators do not mind writing a book in return.
[edit] Staying with a Plotline
Entirely separate of slow or fast threads is how quick you handle a plotline, or episode. The main mistake newbie players make is to jump ahead too fast thinking nothing will happen, or to abandon causes that seem to reap no immediate rewards. Learn to play the long game and stay with a thread for a while, or a sub thread with a main event. Something might turn out for the better.
