Hyper Poster
From Tazlure Gaming System Wiki
A hyperposter is somebody who is capable of posting several times a day and enjoys doing that. This habit makes Play by Post Gaming close to a chat or table top experience.
While sometimes used as a derogative, it is good to remember that nearly all moderators started out as hyperposters. They have channelled their energy into other parts of the game, but you will find them among the hyperposting senior players from time to time. Most hyperposters have a deep understanding of the game and as such are a positive force in the community.
We encourage hyperposters to start threads with pure player interaction, so that they can entertain each other. It makes sure that they are busy while not draining moderator resources. In special cases, for instance during large events, try and set up "side threads" if you threaten to drown out others. They run at the same time as the main plot, but in a side chamber, in the gardens etc. This will prevent other players from being lost in a flurry of posts. When this is not possible be sure to remind yourself to wait for all people involved to have posted before posting again.
Bad Habits of Hyper Posters
- short paragraphs in posts, never more than two, since the hyperposter doesn't want to jump ahead too far ahead in the scene. He wants to play it out, live preferably.
- going into endless detail, or
- hopping in short mechanical threads with one or two purposes only without allowing it to develop in other things.
- continuing a conversation long past the use of a scene "just to have something to do while the rest of the PC's catch up"
- only communicating with other hyperposters, as the rest are too slow to keep up.
- two or three hyperposters can drown out other players in a thread, making their fellow players give up
- complain when other threads are being serviced and theirs isn't, even though less than three days have passed.
- cause timeknots because the PC is in too many threads
Good Habits of Hyper Posters
There are times when a hyperposter, or preferably more than one hyperposter can be what brings life to the game, attracting other players like bees to honey. Of course this supposes that these particular fast posting players are able to write quality prose despite their haste.
- Time in a PBP runs slow. Hyperposters can help resolve plotlines quicker.
- Hyperposters inspire other players with long involved threads that seem like they wrote themselves
- Hyperposters who seek player interaction to get their "fix" may give a good example to other players
- Hyperposters give your game an air of activity which in turn attracts other players like a self fulling prophecy
