The Economic System is intricately interwoven with the elements of Society that define culture and ethical values as well as politics. You cannot see one without the other.

A traditional economy is an economic system in which resources are allocated by inheritance, and which has a strong social network and is based on indigenous technology and methods.In this brand of economy, the closeness of the societal structure generally insures that every member of society has a purpose and as well, a participatory function in society.

The term market economy is not identical to capitalism where a corporation hires workers as a labour commodity to produce material wealth and boost shareholder profits. A market economy (or free market economy) is an economy based on the division of labour in which the prices of goods and services are determined in a free price system set by supply and demand. In the real world, market economies do not exist in pure form, as societies and governments regulate them to varying degrees rather than allow self-regulation by market forces. Generally market economies are bottom-up in decision-making as consumers convey information to producers through prices paid in market transactions.

A planned economy, command economy or directed economy is an economic system in which the state or workers' councils manages the economy. The central economic planning by the state or government is so extensive that it controls all major sectors of the economy and formulates all decisions about their use and about the distribution of income.
